Stow-on-the-Wold Circular, Cotswolds

Returning to Cotswolds to go walking when we have the chance is always a pleasure. We enjoyed our last circular walk in the Cotswolds from Castle Combe immensely so when we saw we were forecasted good weather at the weekend a couple of weeks ago, Harriet & I devised another of our improvised circular walks and headed to the popular Cotswold town Stow-on-the-Wold.

At over 220 meters above sea level, Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest Cotswold town. It sits on top of a hill and is saturated with the sort of beautiful Cotswold stone buildings, old market streets and rural charm that draws people to the Cotswolds from all over the country. We hope you enjoy our 7 mile circular around Stow and its surrounding villages.

We started walking out of the town hoping to be back from our walk with some time left to spend there.

Walking downhill and north on Monarch’s Way, the views from the hill were excellent on this sunny and slightly misty day. We passed gorgeous golden fields as we headed toward the nearby village of Broadwell.

We visited the Fox Inn for a Midday drink before heading west out of the village toward Donnington. We felt like we should have been being charged money for even looking at some of these properties.
